Tips and tricks for Contract Express templates

If you use Contract Express templates, many helpful features have been added to HighQ tools and modules that can improve your working practices and tasks.

Please visit the Contract Express video gallery for additional information.

Information about Output iSheets has now moved to a separate article.

Tips for Contract Express settings

Adjust settings in your Contract Express templates to best take advantage of features provided by HighQ.

Linking Dynamic tables for use in a site template

As of April 2023, select the 'dynamic site' option to use the same Contract Express template over multiple sites, using just one external template. This ensures that any new sites created from the site template ignore the HighQ site and use the iSheet unique identifier of the new site, rather than the old site.

Please note that Administrator access is required to retrieve data from the external table. All users authorised to access the external table, such as a user filling the questionnaire, have access to any record in the external table.

Additional document information from Contract Express

The Contract Express tab in the document viewer displays the original Contract Express metadata. Even if the file is edited, this metadata does not change so that the changes can be identified.

Import iSheet columns as Contract Express variables

You can import iSheet columns as Contract express variables with the Import iSheet option in a document.

Open the Contract Express tab, then select Import iSheet:

Select the Site, iSheet and view for the source columns, then click > or >> to move columns to the Selected columns box.

Click OK to import the selected columns as Contract Express variables.

Go to the Dictionary editor to see the imported variables and add them to the template.

Edit the Contact Express questionnaire from the Files module

Once you have completed your questionnaire, if you think you have made an error or wish to update information that you have provided, you can edit the questionnaire.

Do not blacklist file types that will be used for generated documents

To ensure Contract Express generated documents can be saved in HighQ make sure that the file type is not blacklisted under System admin, File, File types.

Archiving Contract Express templates

In HighQ you can archive any Contract Express templates associated with a HighQ site. Please archive Contract Express templates at site level rather than archiving them in the Contract Express licence space, so you can manage templates at site level, and other sites can use the same template.

Saving Contract Express generated documents in an iSheet attachment column

If you link a Contract Express template to an iSheet that provides the variables, you can save the generated document to an Attachment column in that iSheet.

It is possible to use a custom configuration in Attachment columns so that the destination folder for a generated document is on a different site.

It is not possible to edit the Contract Express questionnaire for these generated documents.

Constraining answers with a Choice column

If a Contract Express template uses choice questions, use a static list of choices in the automation of the choice question.

As of March 2023, answers provided in an 'Other' column are captured in the Output iSheet, and as of April 2023, answers from a dynamic text list are also captured.

If you map a Contract Express Yes / No question with an iSheet choice column, then use True / False choices to answer the Yes / No question.

If a Contract Express template uses Yes / No questions, these will be shown in the Output iSheet as True / False values.
