The People module lists every user who has been added to a site, grouped by organisation - along with contact information about each user. The users can be filtered by their names using the Search people search field, filtered by their organisation using the drop down menu next to the search box, and exported via Export. If following has been enabled on the instance, then a user can choose to follow (or stop following) another user in the site and send a private message to them:
Click Send a message to display the New message screen:
Click Send to send the message.
A site administrator determines whether or not to enable the People module and if enabled, the People module will be available to all users. A site administrator also determines which fields of information and which organisations are displayed. A name is a link to a user's profile page. The other fields; avatar, email address, office telephone, mobile phone, job title and department etc. are optional.
That not every user will have filled out every field of their profile.
A site administrator may also decide to exclude users in certain organisations from appearing in the People module. (This exclusion can only be done at the organisation level, not at the individual user level.) By default, users in all organisations will be displayed.
If a site has been configured as a Bidder site, bidder users in one organisation will not be able to see bidders users from another organisation. Other restrictions on who is visible to a bidder user in the People module can be imposed.
