Users can distribute links to site content via sharing options available in Collaborate. Shareable content includes Wiki pages, content in the Files module, Blog posts, Events and Tasks.
Shareable content
To share content navigate to More actions > Share:
Clicking Share will display the Share screen:
Here you will have access to different sharing options.
Share as an email
By default, the Email tab is selected:
Enter, the recipients' email address, a subject and an optional message. Click Send to share via email.
Share as a link
Click the Link tab to display the link options:
Click Select link to select the full link, and then either use Ctrl+c or Cmd+c to copy the link.
Select the Use short URL checkbox to shorten the URL before copying.
Only site users (and, if the underlying content has restricted access, only users with access to the underlying content) will be able to access content through the link. Therefore, even though the link can be shared with anyone, anyone who is not a site user will be unable to use the link
Share as a message
You can share content in a message within Collaborate. Click the Message tab to display the message options:
Enter the Recipients and the Message, then click Send.
Share as a microblog
You can share content as a microblog within Collaborate. Click the Microblog tab to display the microblog options:
Enter the Message and the site(s) you want to create the microblog post on and click Post.
Receiving an email with shared content
You will receive a confirmation that the email was sent, with a list of the email address of every recipient. Also, each recipient will receive an email and can click on the embedded link to view the content.
The recipient must first authenticate themselves if their login information has not been saved, using the login prompt. If a logged-in user does not have permission to view the content, they will be presented with a warning message.
The email will come from the person who initiated it but each recipient will not know that there were other recipients, similar to bcc'ing recipients on an email.
