Activity module settings

Product Filter HighQ Collaborate
Product Area Filter Admin

Activity module settings allow you to enable the site activity module and microblogging, and allows you to choose to display a user avatar. All recent activity within the site is displayed in the activity stream, alongside Blogs, Tasks and Events.

Configuring the Activity module

Activity module settings include:

  • Enable site activity - Choose whether all users will have view access to the Activity module. This is selected by default.
  • Microblogging  - This setting determines whether microblogging is enabled for the site. If a Site Administrator does not want to encourage communication among the members of a site, then this setting should be disabled.
  • Display user avatars - If this checkbox is selected, a user's avatar will be displayed next to their name in some areas of a site, including in the People module and as a part of comments. If a user has not uploaded an image to their profile, then an icon for the type of activity will be used instead.
  • Click Save to save the settings.

Here is an example of the Activity module:

The Activity module is composed of up to five sections (depending on which other content modules have been enabled):

  • The centre panel lists all recent activity from enabled site modules. Use the tabs at the top of this section content to filter by post, activity, content type or person. The default display shows all types of content
  • If the Blog module is enabled, a list of recent blog posts is shown in the left panel
  • A tag cloud below the blog posts shows tags that have been added to the site
  • If the Tasks module is enabled, a list of incomplete tasks and their due dates are shown in the right panel
  • If the Events module is enabled, a list of any upcoming events is shown in the lower-left panel
