An iSheet can be associated with files or folders by enabling the File metadata template or Folder metadata template setting from the iSheet configuration page (Admin > Module settings > iSheets > click the desired iSheet name). These settings may be enabled when creating a new iSheet or after an iSheet has been created.
Enabling either the file or folder metadata template will result in the following changes to a standard iSheet:
- iSheet level permissions cannot be customized
- Additional system generated fields for File and/or Folder
File and folder metadata iSheet level permissions
Permissions cannot be set at the iSheet level, but are governed by permissions set for files and folders in the Files module.
Columns and views may have custom permission settings applied.
File and folder metadata iSheet system generated fields
Additional system generated fields will appear for file and folder metadata iSheets. Folder metadata iSheets include a system generated column called Folder. File metadata iSheets include system generated columns called Folder and File.
The File and Folder columns contain links to the file and folder, respectively. If a user has download access to a file, the download icon will also appear next to the file.
Like other iSheet system generated columns, Site admins may adjust certain configurations such as the width, column name and if the column should be included in the iSheet search. These columns may also be included in views as needed.
File and folder metadata iSheets are standard iSheets, and can make use of all features such as conditional columns, mandatory columns, etc. They may also be used as lookup source and may have email alerts enabled. If the email alerter view is configured to include the file name, it will have a link in the email to the file.
iSheets that are are metadata iSheets are indicated as such on the iSheet admin page:
