Impersonating another user as a site administrator

Product Filter HighQ Collaborate
Product Area Filter System administration

As of 5.6, site administrators will be able to proxy log in as another non-administrator user. This means they can view the site as that person, and they will be able to navigate as if they are logged in as that user.

Please note that another article has been written detailing how to proxy log in as another non-admin user, found here

Impersonation must be turned on at system admin level, via your drop down menu > System admin. Navigate to System settings and search for Enable Impersonation:

Please note that this setting is set to OFF as default

Once you are impersonating your chosen user, you will see the following message:

This informs you that if you navigate away from the site you are impersonating within, your session will expire.

You will now be able to:

  • View the site as the user you have impersonated
  • View the content and actions available to the user and can take actions on their behalf
  • All actions during the impersonation session are audited
  • You will still be logged in as your own account, which is why the content outside the site is visible in your own context

Please note that only the files module is supported in this release and contents from other sites will not be visible, as you are impersonating a user within your specific chosen site. If you navigate away from this site to another, your impersonation session will end
