Practical Law Matter Maps Integration - Getting set up

Product Filter HighQ Collaborate
Product Area Filter Practical Law

As of version 5.6, HighQ integrates with Practical Law Matter Maps, allowing you to use the full suite of HighQ project management tools to customise, assign and execute tasks set out in a Practical Law Matter Map template, while being able to access relevant and up-to-date Practical Law content at the point of need.

Please note that the Practical Law Matter Map integration needs to be enabled by HighQ support. Please contact your HighQ representative to request this. Once this has been done, the available Practical Law Matter Maps will be visible at System level

Once Practical Law Matter Map integration has been enabled, a new tab labelled Practical Law Matter Maps will be visible within System Admin:

Within System admin, navigate to Task templates. The Task templates screen will be displayed. Within the Task templates screen, click the Practical Law Matter Maps tab:

Within the Practical Law Matter Maps tab, you will see a list of all of the available Practical Law Matter Maps, alongside their status, practice area, jurisdiction and when they were last modified.

Please note that the jurisdiction coverage of Practical Law Matter Maps in HighQ will depend on your Practical Law subscription.

Please note, that as of our April release, you are able to sort matter maps by Name, Jurisdiction and Practice Area.

Additionally, within the Practical Law Matter Maps tab, you can activate and deactivate existing PL Matter Maps via More actions > Activate/Deactivate, located next to the map:

Please note that only Active maps can be associated at the Site level or added in the Tasks module

Using a Practical Law Matter Map

Adding a Practical Law Matter Map directly to the Tasks module

When the Practical Law Matter Map integration is enabled, a Site or Content administrator can add a Practical Law Matter Map straight into the Tasks module via Add > Practical Law Matter Map:

This will display all of the maps that are available as part of the integration.

Please note that in order to be displayed here, the maps must be marked as Active at the System admin level

Within the Practical Law Matter Maps tab, you can click the title of the Practical Law Matter Map to preview it:

And once you’ve selected the map that you want to use, click Add to add it into the Tasks module:

The map will be added into the Tasks module.

A List or Task from a Practical Law Matter Map will contain a new Resources panel which displays curated links to Practical Law content relevant to the task:

Associating a Practical Law Matter Map with a site

Alternatively, a Practical Law Matter Map can first be associated with a Site as an Associated template within Site Admin. This will make the map available as part of the Associated templates tab when Add > Tasks from the template is selected, within the Tasks module. The Add tasks from template screen is displayed:

This can be useful if you want to narrow down or pre-select the relevant Practical Law Matter Maps for the site from the full list of Practical Law Matter Maps available.

Saving a customised Practical Law Matter Map

You can customise the Practical Law Matter Map as you require. In addition, you can also save the customised Practical Law Matter Map, as your own task template to be reused across sites in the same instance.

Task templates that are created from Practical Law Matter Maps will display an icon next to the title, to indicate that tasks within it contains links Practical Law Matter Map resources:

Please note that any changes made by Practical Law to the links in the Resources panel will be reflected in the original Practical Law Matter Map available in HighQ, as well as any customised Practical Law Matter Maps that you create (to the extent the relevant list/task has not been deleted)

Exporting a Practical Law Matter Map or customised Practical Law Matter Map

A Practical Law Matter Map or a customised Practical Law Matter Map can be exported to Excel or exported as a template, but please note that the output spreadsheet will not contain the Resources field with links to the Practical Law resources.

Practical Law Matter Map and customised Practical Law Matter Map in site templates

When a site that has a Practical Law Matter Map or a customised Practical Law Matter Map associated with it is saved as a site template, those associations will be maintained when the site template is used within the same instance. However, when a site template is exported, you will lose any task template associations as they will not be imported into another instance.
